1. Cow Racing Festival

Cow Racing Festival is origin from Madura City, east Java Province. This Festival is the tradition by residents have been doing for a long time at harvest time. Using a pair of cows as a race animals to pull a wooden train. These cows will compete in a length of 100 m in race track. Then the cows will be pitted to determine the fastest cow. This event will be held from August to September anually. The winner will get the presidential rotating trophy.

2. Jember Fashion Carnaval

This carnaval which was pioneered in Jember Regency, East Java Province was ranked first as the best carnaval in Asia and 3rd best carnaval in the world.

This carnaval is the first to embark on a trend in Indonesia, exhibiting extraordinary spectacular modern costumes rooted in various Indonesian traditions and cultures. 3. Lake Toba Festival

Lake Toba is one of the most beautiful scenery in the world. The size is more than 1.145 square kilometers with 450 meters depth, Lake Toba surpasses the largest lake in Southeast Asia and one of the deepest lake in the world. The scientists said the origin of lake Toba is from one of the ancient earth explosions of super volcano. Many scientists believe that made our earth has a long winter for 6-10 years at that time.

This festival aims to promote Lake Toba as tourist place in North Sumatera Province. This festival has a lot of activity to be offered such as traditional art and culture show, competition in traditional sports and folk games, handicraft, culinary bazaars, tourism seminar,and tourism exhibitions. This event held in December annually.

4. Dieng Plateau Festival

Do you want get the different experience when visiting the festival? May this place will be suitable for you. This festival held on mountain and greeted in cold air even below minus 4 degrees celcius. Wow, must be a challenge for you, right?

In here, you will enjoy the music concert and the culture show. The most special things are watch the jazz music over the clouds and fly hundreds of the lanterns into the sky. Then, of course don't forget to enjoy the tourist attraction over here. If you are lucky enough, you will see boy dreadlock hair cutting. This festival will be held in August for 3 days.

5. Pasola Festival

In this festival, you will be invited to see the shrewdness of the horsemen attacking each other using a wooden javelin weapon is called Pasola. It is a part of traditional ceremony section carried out by local people to welcome the harvest and planting period in Sumba Area, West Nusa Tenggara Province.

It started with adat nyale means looking for seaworms which held in every period of full moon.
This tournament always be held at February - March every year which is the arrival of snowstorms around the coast of the beaches.

6. Jump Stone Festival

Fahombo or Jump Stone is a traditional sport by Nias Tribe in North Sumatra Province. Not only as a sport, but also it is using as a prove to get maturity status for young people. Wearing the clothes of Nias Warrior, indicates that they are ready to fight and assume responsibility as adult men. To prove their maturity, they have to jump over a two-meter tall Stone building. This festival is not held at a clear time, but only based on agreement and needs by residents.

7. Cap Go Meh Festival (Singkawang)

Actually, this festival is a chinese traditional ceremony. But, this festival is very unique. It is held in Singkawang city, West Kalimantan Province. Celebrated with parades such as Carnival tatung (a man who possesed by gods), dragon replicas, lion dance, and local festivals. The aims of it, that ilustrates the harmony between cultural and ethnic differences in Indonesia.

This festival will be celebrated after the closing of Chinese new year which is usually held in February every year. This is the most popular and most visited by foreigners. Don't miss it!
