7 most exotic Fruit in Indonesia, Queen Victoria's favorite fruit is here

Indonesia is well-known for beautiful scenery, rich in cultures, and has a lot of kind of foods. Located in Southeast Asia area which are most tropical countries are here, means that Indonesia has 2 seasons only and a stable temperature which are 20-35 degress Celcius.

These advantages makes Indonesia able to offer exotic foods include the fruits that you may not find in another country.  Not only the shapes are exotic, but also the taste and texture of the fruit is also exotic. Let's check list out.


1. Durian Fruit


    This fruit is called the king of fruits. Because of it's size, bristly appearance 
    and fanatic following, it's an appropriate nickname. Durian is distinguished 
    for strong odor, large size, and thorn-covered husk. Ups! Careful when you 
    try to open the shell. Most people open this fruit use the carving knife.

    What makes Durian more reputable than its outlook is the smell. Durian has 
    very strong smell, even led to the fruit being banned from Hotels and 
   Airplanes, and locals know that driving some home from a market or
    roadside stall will have their car reeking of Durian for a week.

    But for those  who love Durian will say that the smell is what makes this 
    fruit is attractive, while those who hates might get dizzy just by a little hint 
    of the smell. The inner flesh is soft and sweet.


2. Mangosteen


    If you has know who is the King of the fruit, now it is time to see the Queen
    of fruit. The name of the fruit is mangosteen. Mangosteen is high in fiber, 
    vitamin C, and anti-oxidant. The shell, apple-sized and deep purple fruit is 
    easily cracked opened by pressing between both palms. The reddish stains 
    on your plams resemble bload at a glance, hence it is nickname 
    the 'blood fruit'. 

    But, inside is white colour, white big lemon shaped endocarp that is also 
    inedible. The fruit itself tastes sweet and sometimes a little bit sour if they 
    are not fully ripe. Queen Victoria from England likes this fruit a lot.


3. Rambutan Fruit

    It is call rambutan, because this fruit has so many hairs on the shell. These
    hairs won't hurt you like Durian Fruit. Looks dangerous and disgusting,
    but this fruit is very tasty. Most people describe rambutan as resemble of
    lychee with its red colored skin.
 
    You will know you are enjoying top-quality rambutan whenever the skin is
    easily opened, the flavor is a little like grapes with a slight strawberry quality,
    slighty acidic and sweet. The flesh is easily separates from the seed.


4. Breadfruit

    Have you ever heard about breadfruit?
    Breadfruit is most commonly used as a vegetable, and is a staple food in
    many tropical countries. The starch-rich breadfruit tastes similar to potatoes
    or freshly baked bread, though riper varieties taste sweeter because the
    starch converts to sugar. Before being eaten, the fruits are roasted, baked,
    fried or boiled. Some people even use breadfruit pulp to make paper.


5. Soursop Fruit


    Its sourness is very obvious! The aroma similar to pineapple, the flavor of
    the fruit has been described as a combination of strawberries and apple, and
    sour citur flavor notes, contrasting with an underlying creamy texture
    reminiscent of coconut or banana. The flesh of the fruit consist of an edible,
    white pulp, some fiber, and a core of indigestible black seeds.

    The best way to enjoying soursop is dig with a knife and fork, and beware
    with the small black seeds. Very soft when ripe, the green skin is easily
    pinched and peeled away by hand too. Soursop is a high anti-oxidant fruit
    is due to its vitamin B and C, calcium, phosphorous and even some iron that
    it contains. Soursop is well-known to fight cancer.


6. Snake Fruit
    The fruits grow in clusters at the base of palm, are also known as snake fruit
    due to the reddish-brown scaly skin and prickly like a cactus. It is about the
    size and shape of a ripe fig, with a distinct tip. The pulp is edible. The fruit
    can be peeled by pinching the tip, which should cause the skin to slough off
    so it can be pulled away.
 
    The flesh inside is sweet and acidic, but the texture is crunchy and moist like
    an apple. This fruit has a good nutrition such as beta carotene, tannins, and
    fibers which are good for eyes and digestion. But this fruit is not
    recommended to be eaten by people who have ulcers and typhus.


7. Starfruit

    The star fruit is aptly named for its shape: a five-pointed cross-section,
    like a star, when the fruit is cut diagonally. The skin are thin, smooth,
    waxy, and turns a light to dark yellow when ripe. The flesh is translucent
    and light yellow to yellow in color.

    There are 2 types of star fruit, one is deliciously sweet, described as a cross
    between an apple and a grape, and the other is sour. The sweet type has ribs
    with thicker flesh, while the other has narrow ribs. The fruit has low calories,
    zero cholestrol, fat-free, iron, fibres, vitamin A, and most importantly is
    source of vitamin C to help strengthen the immune system. So, it is good for
    people who wants to do the diet.

    It is usually eaten out of hand. However, people with kidney problem are not
    advised to consume the fruit.
